Data & privacy
Safe with WakeZ.
Your nights are personal. Here’s what WakeZ collects, where it’s kept, who can see it, and how you stay in control, in plain words.
- Stored in the EU
- GDPR compliant
- Encrypted
- You decide what’s shared
What we collect, and why
Only what WakeZ needs to work, and every piece has a reason.
Your account
Your name, email and password, or your Google or Apple sign-in.
Why: So only you can get into your account.
Your sleep profile
Height, weight, gender, date of birth, county, your usual bed and wake-up times, and an optional profile photo.
Why: To make your sleep results fit you. You can change it any time.
Apple Health data
Read-only, and only with your permission: sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, breathing rate, blood oxygen, steps, energy and workouts. At first, the last 30 days.
Why: It’s what your sleep score, stages and trends are calculated from.
Your watch, only at wake-up
If you use the smart alarm, your Apple Watch sends heart rate and movement in the last 25 minutes before your alarm. Not the rest of the night.
Why: To tell which sleep stage you’re in and time the gentle vibrations.
Questionnaire answers
Your answers to the PHQ-8 wellbeing questionnaire, and any questionnaire your doctor sends you, exactly as you gave them.
Why: So you, and your doctor if you choose, can follow how you feel over time.
Device details
Your phone and watch model, system and app version. Plus screenshots, only if you attach them to a support request.
Why: To help our team fix technical problems.
Where it lives
Kept in Europe, locked down.
Your data doesn’t travel the world. It stays in one place, protected at every step.
In the European Union
Your data is stored and processed only in the EU, in Frankfurt, Germany, on Amazon Web Services, under the GDPR.
Encrypted, everywhere
Everything travels over secure HTTPS connections and is stored encrypted (AES-256). Photos and reports are private, opened only through short-lived links.
Face ID stays on your phone
If you sign in with Face ID, the check happens on your iPhone. Your biometric data never leaves it.
Only you, by default
Every request is checked: you can only reach your own data. Our technical logs never contain your personal data.
Sharing with your clinic
Nothing reaches your doctor unless you send it.
You’re paired with a clinic
WakeZ pairs you with a partner clinic available in your county. Nothing is shared just by being paired.
You send your summary
After at least 10 nights, WakeZ prepares a sleep summary. It reaches your doctor only when you tap “Send”.
You decide on the questionnaire
Your PHQ-8 answers are included only if you choose to add them. Until then, only you can see them.
Ongoing sharing is optional
You can also send new nights to your doctor every day. Turn it off or stop sharing whenever you like.
Who sees what
- YouEverything in your account.
- Your assigned doctorOnly the sleep summaries, daily sleep data and questionnaire answers you chose to send.
- The clinic managerOnly your age group, gender, county and sign-up date, so they can assign you a doctor.
Every time clinic staff open your data, it’s recorded: who, and when. So is everything you send and every change to your consent.
